RCKC Construction Update for the Week of 9-2-2024

In an effort to keep local drivers informed of the latest traffic and road maintenance operations by the Road Commission, we have provided the following update for the week of September 2, 2024.  For further information call 269-381-3171 or visit RCKC website www.kalamazoocountyroads.com.

“This information is made available to assist motorists in planning for construction delays,” Joanna Johnson, Managing Director of the Road Commission said. “Motorists are reminded to be alert, slow down, stay informed, and be cautious when approaching a work zone. Remember, these projects signify progress in improving our infrastructure!”

Please note: This information is subject to change. Projects, road closures and timing can change from day to day, depending upon a number of factors, and traffic delays can develop in a matter of minutes due to weather conditions, emergency situations, etc.

Alamo Township

Road: D Avenue - 6th Street to Ravine Road
Current Status: Tree removal and trimming complete. Road work to begin early September.
Detour: None
Project Information: This project includes tree removal and trimming, drainage improvements, asphalt paving, and restoration.
Start Date: April 8, 2024
End Date: September 30, 2024

Kalamazoo Township

Road: Davis-Olmstead Drain - Olmstead Road to Olmstead Road
Current Status: For week of 9/2, project is delayed until water main can be lowered after which time culvert placement will begin on Brookfield Avenue.
Detour: Brookfield Ave and Springfield Ave will be closed at alternate times during the project. The detour route is around the block on either
Greenfield Ave or Market St.
Project Information: This project includes culvert replacements at two road crossings in
addition to stream bank restoration.
Start Date: April 1, 2024
End Date: October 25, 2024

Road: 2nd Street - L Avenue to KL Avenue
Current Status: Culvert installation and ditching week of 9/2.
Detour: None
Project Information: HMA Overlay, drainage adjustment and tree work.
Start Date: April 15, 2024
End Date: September 30, 2024

Road: Stadium Drive - 8th Street to 9th Street
Current Status: Centerline fog seal week of 9/2.
Detour: None
Project Information: This project includes asphalt milling, asphalt paving, manhole
adjustments, tree trimming, and restoration.
Start Date: April 15, 2024
End Date: August 15, 2024

Current Status: Tree work complete, drainage improvements to follow.
