Meet the Board of County Road Commissioners of the County of Kalamazoo 

The Road Commission is governed by a board of five Road Commissioners who represent the public at large, and are appointed by the Kalamazoo County Board of Commissioners. Our Road Commissioners annually review township representation to be a liaison and additional communication link as noted below.

The Board's regular meetings, to which the public is invited, are held at 3:00 p.m. on alternate Tuesdays at the Road Commission office, 4400 S 26th Street,  Kalamazoo, Michigan. A meeting schedule can also be found on the "Meetings" section of this website. From time to time, additional special board meetings are held and joint meetings are scheduled with townships throughout the county annually.

David C. Pawloski

 

David C. Pawloski

Mr. Pawloski, Chair, was appointed to the Road Commission in March of 2017.  He served as Vice Chair of the Board since 2019 and served as a Member of the Board in 2017 and 2018.  He is the current Community Services Liaison for the United Way of South Central Michigan.  He also serves on the Michigan Workforce Development Board Southwest, the Kalamazoo County Local Emergency Planning Committee as well as various other organizations and non-profits.  He served 14 years on the Local Officers Compensation Committee for the City of Kalamazoo.  He has been a resident of Kalamazoo County since 1994.  David and his wife Molly are the proud parents of their son, Joseph, who is a Promise Graduate of Kalamazoo Public Schools.  His term expires 12/31/2028.  Email: dpawloski@kalamazoocountyroads.com

Larry Stehouwer

Mr. Stehouwer, Vice Chair, was appointed to the Road Commission in March of 2017 and reappointed in December 2022.  Prior to retirement he worked as a professional civil engineer on public infrastructure and development projects, primarily for townships in Kalamazoo, Allegan, and Ottawa counties with the consulting engineering firm Prein & Newhof.  He volunteers at several nonprofits including the Friends of the Kalamazoo River Valley Trail, the Kalamazoo Christian School Foundation and Association, and the Kalamazoo Deacons Conference.  He previously served on the Cooper Township Planning Commission, and presently serves on its Board of Review.  He was previously active in his church board, Sea to Sea bike tours, Appalachia Reach Out and the Southwest Michigan Building Authority.  He serves on the Kalamazoo County Parks and Recreation Commission.  He enjoys helping others, spending time with family, the outdoors, road trips, walking, and bicycling.  He has been a township resident in the County since 1993. Keshia Dickason

Ms. Dickason, Member, was appointed to the Road Commission in February of 2021. She serves on the Planned Parenthood’s Event Committee.  Previously she worked as the Executive Liaison for Community Engagement at Kalamazoo Regional Educational Service Agency, Executive Director for Girls on the Run of Southwest Michigan and worked for the State of Michigan as the District Manager for the Michigan Senate.  She has also diligently served as Planning Commissioner for Oshtemo Township.  As a member of the Texas Township Flood Taskforce, Ms. Dickason also serves on several boards and works with many non-profit organizations.  She serves as the Chair of Woman’s Health & Wellness Initiative, Fundraising, and Pink Goes Red for Health committees in the Kalamazoo Area.  In addition, she also serves on the Bike Friendly Kalamazoo Diversity committees.  Ms. Dickason is also the founder of the Big Red Heart Scholarship Fund, a non-profit organization, that sponsors an annual 5K Run to provide scholarships for high school students who desire to further their education in medicine.  She has been a proud member of Kalamazoo County for over 28 years.Her term expires on 12/31/2026.  Email: kdickason@kalamazoocountyroads.com

Randy Thompson

Mr. Thompson, Member, was appointed to the Road Commission in December 2024. He began his dedicated service in 1977 when he joined the Kalamazoo Township Fire Department while also serving on the Board of the Eastwood Fire Association. He quickly rose through the ranks, advancing from Lieutenant to his current role as Captain of the department. Additionally, he served as a Lieutenant with the Comstock Fire Department for 16 years. In 1979, he joined the Kalamazoo County Sheriff Reserve Division, where he served until 1984, later transitioning to the Kalamazoo Township Police Reserve Division, where he remained until 1994. From 2008 to 2012, he served on the Comstock Township Board of Trustees. In 2009, he was part of the Committee for Comstock Daze, a community family fund day that raised funds for the Great Lakes Burn Camp. In 2012 Comstock Daze was shut down, ending this fundraiser. Determined to help the kids, in 2012 he joined with the Texas Corral to continue fundraising for the Great Lakes Burn Camp. He went on to serve as Comstock Township Supervisor from 2017 to 2024, further demonstrating his unwavering commitment to public service and community engagement. His term expires December 31, 2030.  Email: rthompson@kalamazoocountyroads.com

Andy Davis

Mr. Davis, Member, was appointed to the Road Commission in December 2024. He is a licensed residential builder, holds a Bachelor's degree in Geology from Western Michigan University and is recognized by the Michigan Department of Agriculture, as a certified source for wild edible foods. He and his wife Michelle have three children, run two small business: "Old School Construction" doing residential and commerical building, and "Wild Earth Foraging" which has been supplying wild foraged foods to fine restaurants in SW Michigan since 2008. He was born at Bronson Hospital and has spent the greater majority of his life living and working in Kalamazoo County. Andy, his wife Michelle and their children currently live and garden on land they own in Cooper Township. His term expires on 12/31/2030. Email: adavis@kalamazoocountyroads.com
