“This information is made available to assist motorists in planning for construction delays,” Travis Bartholomew, Managing Director of the Road Commission said. “Motorists are reminded to be alert, slow down, stay informed, and be cautious when approaching a work zone. Remember, these projects signify progress in improving our infrastructure!”

Please note: This information is subject to change. Projects, road closures and timing can change from day to day, depending upon a number of factors, and traffic delays can develop in a matter of minutes due to weather conditions, emergency situations, etc.

Alamo Township

Road: AB Avenue - 7,900' east of 1st Street to Ravine Road
Current Status: Week of 8/24, roadside restoration and driveway adjustments.
Detour: None
Project Information: RCKC preventive maintenance.
Start Date: April 15, 2026
End Date: October 15, 2026

Road: C Avenue - 6th Street to Ravine Road
Current Status: Week of 8/24, tree removal and ditching to begin.
Detour: None
Project Information: RCKC preventive maintenance.

Road: West Indian Lake Drive - 1,500' north of UV Avenue to 2,300' north of UV Avenue
Current Status: Milling and paving forthcoming. 
Detour: None

Comstock Township

Road: Comstock Avenue - Sprinkle Road to River Street
Current Status: Week of 8/24, finishing installation of curb and gutter and asphalt patching tranches.
Detour: Comstock Avenue will be closed to through traffic and detoured using River Street, I-94 BL, and Sprinkle Road. 
Project Information: 0.85 miles of asphalt milling and resurfacing, concrete curb and gutter replacement, and storm sewer replacement.
Start Date: June 1, 2026
End Date: September 20, 2026

Road: Sprinkle Road - 975' south of Gull Road to 750' north of Gull Road
Current Status: Week of 8/24, inside three lanes will be milled and repaved from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm.
Detour: Traffic control will be set up to allow single-lane traffic for north and southbound lanes. Please be mindful and pay attention to lane closures. 
Project Information: 0.38 miles of asphalt milling and resurfacing. 
Start Date: July 13, 2026
End Date: September 25, 2026

Road: M Avenue - Vankal Street to 4th Street
Current Status: Week of 8/31, tree removal to begin. 
Detour: None
Project Information: Drainage improvement, milling, and HMA resurfacing. 
Start Date: June 1, 2026
End Date: August 28, 2026

Road: 9th Street - KL Avenue to West Main Street
Current Status: Punch list items are planned for the week of 8/24.
Detour: No closure or detour of the roadway is anticipated.
Project Information: 1.06 miles of asphalt milling and resurfacing with sidewalk ramp improvements.
Start Date: June 1, 2026
End Date: August 28, 2026

Road: 44th Street - U Avenue to T Avenue
Current Status: Drainage improvements forthcoming. 
Detour: None
Project Information: RCKC preventive maintenance.

Countywide Projects

Road: Crack filling on various roads in Kalamazoo County.
Current Status: Crack fill continuing in various townships.
Detour: None
Project Information: Traffic to be maintained during project. This is a mobile operation, temporary traffic regulators may be necessary and slight delays are possible. 
Start Date: May 4, 2026
End Date: August 28, 2026

Road: Pavement Marking on various roads within Kalamazoo County.
Current Status: Pavement marking work will continue throughout the county, including the installation of roadway markings and pavement legends as part of various road improvement projects.
Detour: Expect delays in work zones. Please use caution and do not follow pavement marking vehicles too closely to help prevent wet paint from getting on your vehicle.
